Quality Service Value Pride
We firmly believe in four basic principles, around which we've built our business....
Quality Service Value Pride
Working with first rate suppliers, we are able to follow the route from field to plate of all our meats, we only use free range eggs and chicken in our homemade items, we use the outstanding Lovejoy's of Holt for all our fresh fruit and vegetables, to ensure food miles are kept as low as possible.
Our suppliers share our beliefs that a great meal should not cost the Earth. We have worked with our suppliers for years, developing a relationship that works both ways, we get great service and good prices, which means our customers get better prices, which means we sell more, and the suppliers sell us more.
By working with the likes of Castel Howell, Lovejoy's of Holt, Pieminister and The Bath Sausage Shop, we can be sure of the quality of our food.
Our wines are supplied by Fuller Smith & Turner, following a business relationship that dates back to 1995 when Hayley started working for Fullers and '97 when Mark joined.
Rather than simply serving the cheapest wine for the biggest margin, we prefer to sell the best tasting wines in their category. What's more we always have more than 20 wines available, 10 of which are available by the glass too and like our draught beers, you are welcome to try a little before you buy it. But if you are looking to savour, rather than quaff, then our list extends to some fantastic wines from both the Old and New Worlds.
We use Fair-trade Lavazza Tiera Coffee beans, 100% Pure Arabica beans from the mountains of Brazil, that have been sourced via the Rainforest Alliance, meaning that your great tasting coffee is helping to provide a better life for the growers as well as helping to protect the rainforest itself.
Our beef comes from the award wining Celtic Pride herd of cattle that have been reared, bred, fed and ultimately butchered within a 30 mile radius of Castle Howell's head office in Carmarthernshire, Wales. Fed only on grass and British feeds, food miles are kept to an absolute minimum which is not only better for the environment but is better for the cattle too, making very happy beef!
But most importantly of all we never cease to remember that we are a service industry and that we are here to serve you. Our staff receive extensive training in all areas of service with on objective in mind - to ensure you have the best experience possible.
Pride is something personal, it's the knowledge that the staff share in a job well done, knowing that we have provided the best in fayre for a fair price.
You can find us in the Good Beer Guide, we hold Cask Marque for the quality of our ales, we featured in a list printed in the Daily Telegraph of the 70 Best Loved Pubs in the UK as well as being voted Wiltshire's Best Pub by readers of The Gazette & Herald.
